Excalidraw diagram generator (skill)
Skill, agent skill, by coleam00
Assessment
The diagram skill with a point of view: visual structure should match the concept, and the agent should look at its own render before showing it. Worth having when a design decision deserves a picture that will outlive the conversation.

Strengths
- Architecture and sequence diagrams from a description, as editable Excalidraw files
- Diagrams that argue a structure: fan-out, timeline, convergence, not a uniform grid of boxes
- Renders its own output and checks for overlaps and misaligned arrows before handing it over
Limitations
- Needs a Playwright render pipeline installed
- Dense diagrams still need a human pass for emphasis
The Excalidraw diagram generator is a community skill that turns a description into an Excalidraw file: an architecture diagram, a request flow, a sequence diagram for an authentication exchange.[1] Two things set it apart from simpler diagram tools. Its design philosophy says a diagram should argue: one-to-many as a fan-out, sequence as a timeline, aggregation as convergence, with real code and payloads inline rather than placeholders. And it validates itself: it renders the JSON to an image through Playwright, inspects the result for overlapping text and crossed arrows, and fixes them before returning the file.[2]
What it is for
Documenting a decision visually at the moment it is made, in the repository, in a format anyone can edit later. A good architecture diagram explains the system to the engineer who joins in six months and to the stakeholder who will never read the code.
Things to know
- All colours live in one palette file in the skill; set it once and every diagram matches the house style.
- Ask for one argument per diagram; a diagram that shows everything argues nothing.
